Alina Gershonov, M.S., LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist # MT3151
Alina is an important part of our team here at Fresh Start. Her practice is informed by the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness-based interventions as needed. She often incorporates hypnotherapy methods, such as mindfulness and breathing, into her practice. Over the past decade, she has worked with families, couples, individuals, teens, children, and groups. Alina enjoys helping clients who are experiencing issues with parenting, behavior, relationship issues, breakups/divorce, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Alina often incorporates aspects of societal and familial pressures, which are a regularly debilitating source of despair for many people, into treatment. She believes that the purpose of the therapeutic process is to help her clients identify difficulties and limitations, and to create positive, intentional, and practical changes, in order to live what they deem to be rewarding and meaningful lives. Alina speaks Russian fluently, and can provide therapy sessions in English, as well as English/Russian.
Alina received her B.S. in Family, Youth, and Community Science from The University of Florida in 2010, and graduated from Nova Southeastern University, Magna Cum Laude, with a Master's of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013. Alina is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Hypnotherapist in the state of Florida. Born in Ukraine and raised in South Florida, her diverse background has uniquely shaped her perspective of the struggles individuals and families face. From a very young age, Alina had an intuitive ability, and a true passion, in guiding and supporting those on the path to healing. As a mother of two, her personal experiences have aided in broadening her perspective and appreciation for the day to day struggles parents face.
